discuss any suggestions or comments you may have.
Practice Nurses
Our practice nurses are Joanne Anderson (RGN EN FPN) and Carolann Scade (RGN
BA MSc). They provide the full range of treatment room procedures and also offer
expertise in travel advice and immunisations, health promotion and family planning
matters. They also run chronic disease management clinics including asthma, diabetes,
hypertension, stroke and coronary heart disease. Joanne also leads our minor
illness clinic (see Clinics and Other Services).
You would normally see nurses by appointment and you may leave a message for
them at reception.
Health Visitors
Our health visitors are Barbara McLeod (RGN BEd Dip HV) and Natalie Burns
(RGN RN RM HV BSc (Health Study), F Dip Nursing/Midwifery Pgd (public health).
They are assisted by Isobel McLucas (RGN, BSc Nursing, Bachelor Community Nursing),
who is our health visitor support nurse. They have expertise in preventive health
including routine immunisation, care and development of babies and pre-school
children, care of the elderly and general health promotion. There is a regular
baby clinic and also a smoking cessation clinic. The health visitors are able
to see people in the surgery or at home if necessary. Barbara and Isobel can
be contacted directly by telephoning 232 9005. Natalie can be contacted on 314
6230. You can also leave a message for them at reception.
District Nurses
Our district nurses are Eleanor Gair (RGN SCM DN Cert), Alana Hunter (RGN)
and Elspeth Threlfall. They provide nursing care for patients at home when necessary.
In addition they also hold clinics at the practice, for example, for dressings.
They may be contacted directly on telephone number 232 9000, or by leaving a
message at reception.
Community Midwives
We have an attached community midwife from the Queen Mother's Hospital and
she helps to run our antenatal clinic. She or one of her colleagues visits all
mothers at home after the birth of a new baby.
Community Psychiatric Nurses
CPNs are also part of the primary care team. They are based in mental health
resource centres, which function on a geographical basis according to where you
live. The two main resource centres for our area are Riverside Resource Centre,
telephone number 211 1430 and Shawpark Resource Centre, telephone number 531
8770. The name of our own practice-attached CPN is Stuart Lygate. You can see
him by appointment after your GP has made that recommendation. Stuart can be
contacted on 435 4340 or, alternatively, you can leave a message for him at the
reception.
Social Workers
If you require the services of the social work department, you will be referred
to a social worker at your local office. For Partick, Hillhead and Hyndland they
can be contacted on 276 3100, and for Maryhill and Kelvinside the contact number
is 276 6200.
Receptionists
The practice employs a number of reception staff, led by senior receptionists
Mae and Christine.
All of our receptionists are here to help you. Although you will be mostly
aware of them at the reception desk and on the telephone, they are responsible
for a wide range of clerical duties. We would be grateful for your help in understanding
the problems which they often face in trying to accommodate everyone. Be assured
that any information discussed with them is kept strictly confidential.
